Born and raised in NYC, John Maidman studied drama at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, before earning a BA in History from Pomona College in Claremont, California. He joined the Brick City team in 2014, while simultaneously beginning his career in documentary film at Blowback Productions. His credits include HBO's Class Divide, Baltimore Rising, and One Nation Under Stress, along with Bill Moyers's Rikers: An American Jail, USA Network's Inside the FBI: New York, and Vulcan Production's Ocean Warriors. He served as Director of Photography for Formerly Productions' Crystal CIty, and as an editor on the first season of Quibi's I Promise documentary series. He is the Editor and one of the Cinematographers for Florida Ocean Society/Brick City TV collaboration Protectyourwater.com, helping to raise awareness for Florida's water crisis. Most recently he is Producer/Editor for the feature documentary Murder at Sea, which traces the deadly cost of industrial fishing to the ocean and those who fight to protect it.
