CHASING THE THUNDER

Chasing the Thunder is a documentary that takes place on the high seas over 110 days as two vessels from the conservation activist organization Sea Shepherd chases down the world’s most notorious poaching vessel.

Sea Shepherd captains Peter Hammerstadt and Sid Chakravarty follow the Thunder for 16,000 km through Antarctic icebergs and the unforgiving Southern Ocean. Sea Shepherd crews stalked the fugitive fishing boat for over three months, pulling their illegal nets from the water and confronting them as they ran from the Indian Ocean to the East African waters to the South Atlantic until their dramatic chase came to an improbable ending.

Currently screening on DISCOVERY+ and waterbear.com, CHASING THE THUNDER has its origins in OCEAN WARRIORS, a 6-hour series that won Best Series Award at Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival. CHASING THE THUNDER won the “Impact Award” at EarthXFilm Texas, the “Environmental Advocacy Award” at Ekotopfilm, the “Best Documentary” award at the Rivera Film Festival and the Jury Prize at the Orlando Film Festival.
